Chellenchöpfli is the second-highest peak in Basel-Landschaft and offers a wonderful view. Particularly interesting to observe is the ‘sea of fog’, which, in winter, often blankets the central plateau. When hiking in the area, it's always worth making a short detour to this spot. At the vantage point, there are information panels and graphics.
Chellenchöpfli got its name from the little rocky summit (‘Chöpfli) at Chellenberg, the mountain with the ladle-shaped indentation between Vorderen Egg and the rocky ridge of Chellenchöpfli. From a distance, this long, narrow trough really looks like a ladle.
Chellenchöpfli is best accessed on foot from the summit station of the Wasserfallen cable car.
