Museum Tinguely

The Tinguely museum is located directly on the Rhine and was built by Ticinese architect Mario Botta. It is home to the largest collection of works by Jean Tinguely (1925-1991), one of the most innovative and important Swiss artists of the 20th century.

The permanent exhibition presents a comprehensive cross-section of Jean Tinguely’s works. At the centre of his work was his preoccupation with the machine, from function and movement to sounds and poetry. In addition, the museum also hosts an ever-changing programme of special exhibitions, showcasing a wide range of artists from the 20th and 21st centuries.
